Progress has brought about change in Northwest Arkansas especially in the area of new roads. Likewise we are changing the traffic before and after football games to more effectively utilize those roads. With the opening of Interstate 540 and the four lanes on Wedington Drive and North Street, volumes of traffic can be moved safer and more efficiently with minor adjustments. The University of Arkansas Police, Fayetteville Police Department and the Arkansas State Police work cooperatively to manage the flow of traffic. As it was last year, there will be no parking in the residential neighborhood west of Razorback Stadium and violators will be towed. Traffic will continue to be restricted around Razorback Stadium two hours before game.
BEFORE GAME TRAFFIC
Fans entering campus to attend the Razorback Football games from north and east of the campus should make every effort to use the four lane routes, Wedington Drive and North Street. At the intersection of North and Garland traffic will be turned one way southbound to the intersection of Garland Avenue and Maple Street. Police officers will be on post before each game to ensure that the traffic is safely going one way southbound. We recommend that all reserve/scholarship going south on Garland Avenue merge into the right lane as soon as possible. At the intersection of Garland and Maple, only reserved/scholarship traffic will be allowed to drive west on Maple. Maple will continue to be one way west from Garland Avenue to Stadium Drive. Stadium Drive will run one way south from Maple Street to Meadow Street. Public parking will be located to the east of Garland Avenue. The major change is that Garland will be one way south before the game and Maple will be open to two way traffic from Arkansas Avenue to Garland Avenue.
Fans entering the campus to attend the Razorback Football games from south and those using Interstate 540 are encouraged to use the Cato Springs Road exit off of Interstate 540. An officer will be on Highway 265, directing traffic across 265, from the northbound Cato Springs Road off ramp from Interstate 540. The officer will be sending the traffic northbound on Highway 265 which will turn into Razorback Road. Signs will be posted showing direction of public parking. It is important to note that Lot 14 at the corner of Razorback Road and 6th Street will be reserved/scholarship parking this year. Therefore, only reserved/scholarship permits will be allowed on Razorback Road north of 6th Street.
Shuttle buses will run from both public parking areas at Baum Stadium to the game (buses will return to those areas after the game). A bus map can be found here. Reserved/scholarship traffic will drive two lanes one way northbound on Razorback Road from 6th Street to Maple Street. Meadow Street from Razorback Road to Stadium Drive will be two way traffic. Leroy Pond Drive from Razorback to California Boulevard will be two way eastbound.
We do recommend that any reserved/scholarship permit holders on Razorback Road (Lots 4 road, 4, 4 north, 1, 2, 6, 8A, 8, 5, 13, 10, 10A, 11, or 12 enter from Interstate 540 and come north up Razorback Road. For those entering Lot 3, 3 road, Legislative Lot, or the Parking Deck enter north from Garland Avenue to Maple Street.
AFTER GAME TRAFFIC
Fans leaving the Razorback Football Stadium going north on Razorback Road will be turned eastbound on Maple Street. No traffic will be allowed to continue north on Razorback Road from the Maple Street intersection. That eastbound traffic will be merged into the center and left hand lane on Maple Street. The right hand lane will be used for traffic coming northbound on Stadium Drive. At the intersection of Maple Street and Garland Avenue, traffic in the right hand lane will have the option of turning south on Garland Avenue, but it should be noted that traffic may be very slow or east on Maple Street. The middle lane will have the option of going east on Maple Street or north on Garland Avenue. The left lane will be turned north on Garland Avenue to the intersection of North Street and Garland Avenue. There traffic in the right lane will have the option of turning east on North Street or going north on Garland Avenue. The left hand lane will be turned west on Wedington. The major change here is that Garland Avenue and will be one way north after the game from Maple Street to North Street and Maple Street will be one way east after the game from Garland Avenue to Arkansas Avenue. Traffic will not be allowed to go west from Garland Avenue to Razorback Road.
Fans leaving the Razorback Football games going south will be sent two lanes south on Razorback Road from the football stadium to 6th Street. From there the traffic will be turned westbound to Interstate 540 at the 6th Street intersection. From there traffic may go north or south, but it is recommended that once on 6th Street, traffic wishing to go north on Interstate 540 merge to the right lane of 6th Street as soon as possible. The traffic wanting to go southbound on Interstate 540 needs to make every attempt to merge into the left lane once they have made the turn westbound onto 6th Street. All westbound traffic on 6th Street approaching the intersection of 6th Street and Razorback Road will be turned southbound on Razorback Road at the intersection. Traffic will run two lanes southbound from 6th Street to Interstate 540. Traffic will be able to turn north from Highway 265 to the on ramp to Interstate N540 and south from Highway 265 to the on ramp to Interstate S540. The off ramp from Highway 71 north to Cato Springs Road will be blocked and no exit will be allowed until football traffic is safely cleared. Meadow Street from Razorback Road to Stadium Drive will be two way traffic. Leroy Pond Drive from Razorback to California Boulevard will be blocked. Note: local traffic coming northbound on Highway 265 toward Interstate 540 will either turn south onto Interstate 540 or be detained until traffic clears safely onto the Interstate 540.
FOR YOUR SAFETY, PEDESTRIANS LEAVING THE WEST SIDE OF RAZORBACK STADIUM WILL BE REQUIRED TO WALK ON THE EAST SIDE WALK AND AVOID WALKING ON RAZORBACK ROAD. OFFICERS WILL ENFORCE THIS REQUIREMENT.
